First, install Adobe Premiere, which is one of the programs in the DV500’s bundle. Installing the DV500 was fairly straightforward. We tested the DV500 on a Pentium III 550MHz with 128MB RAM, a Matrox G400 display adapter and an IBM UltraStar 9GB SCSI 2 hard drive for capture all running under Windows 98.

Although the box claims that it is compatible with Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, those drivers were still in Beta at press time, so we had to use either Windows 98 or 98SE. First, you need to have at least a Pentium II 400MHz, 128MB RAM and a SCSI 2 capture drive. The minimum system requirements for this capture card are steep. Not only that, it promises to do it all for less than $1,000. This card promises to provide analog and digital input and output, and enough speed to push some of the transitions into the realm of real-time. Now Pinnacle Systems has introduced the DV500. The FAST Multimedia DV Master, the Canopus DVRex-M1 and the Matrox RT2000 have set the standard for dual-purpose capture cards. Only a few products offer both digital and analog I/O. You need an IEEE 1394 card if you have a digital (Mini DV or Digital8) camcorder, or a digitizing card if you have an analog (8mm or VHS family) camcorder. The capture card that you choose depends largely on the type of camcorder that you own. (c) Analogue-out to tape - even if only possible from a fully-rendered timeline or a previously-created DV AVI file. When it comes to editing video on a computer, you first have to get your video onto the hard drive. on an attached monitor/TV set as well as on the PC. (b) Previewing of edits - even if not always in real-time but sufficient to be able to immediately observe the effect of applying a filter etc. (a) Capture from analogue-in to DV AVI using EZcapture EZcapture to have access to all of the capture-time video/audio controls provided by the card. I would like to see this hardware supported and able to perform the following tasks To any Pinnacle/Avid support staff who are reading this:
PINNACLE AV DV CAPTURE CARD DRIVERS UPGRADE
Since this (Pinnacle) hardware is supported by Studio IMO it is not unreasonable to expect it to be supported by a Liquid upgrade from Studio. 7" on the silk-screen they are identical to look at except for the part numbers on a few chips. I am looking to use either the DV500plus (masquerading as a Studio AVDV Deluxe), or a a real Studio AVDV Deluxe from the early days of Studio 8 (both of these boards are marked "Callisto Rev. The behaviour (able to capture but not output) sounds "as expected" friom what I have read elsewhere - but IMO not fully satisfactory.

Thanks for the reply - with the driver you specify it sounds like you have the newer version card (would have been installed originally from a file StudioAVDVHardwareInstall2.exe on the Studio 9 or Studio 10 disc). If it is the older "Callisto" board type, what driver are you using with it - the current "Studio AVDV hardware installer 1" (2.0.0.27), or something older? Is it the older version ("Callisto") board with the Firewire sockets nearest the retaining screw end of the bracket (board as supplied with Studio 7 and earlier releases of Studio 8), or is it the newer version ("Bender"?) with the Firewire sockets furthest from the retaining screw end of the bracket? What driver are you using - DV500 v4.50a, Studio AVDV Deluxe hardware installer 1 (2.0.0.27), or something else?ĭid you have to do anything extra to get EZcapture to see the card? This thread appears to suggest that DV500plus and Studio AVDV Deluxe boards can be used with AL7 but what boards and what drivers? Please will someone with a DV500plus or Studio AVDV Deluxe that is recognised and works in AL7 let me know how they did it. By default all of the drop-down list boxes that should allow selection are greyed out and fixed to point to IEEE1394 as the only available capture device. However AL7 EZcapture does not see it at all.

Tha DV500plus works fine with the original Premiere 6.5, and also with Studio 9 (which sees it as a Studio AVDV Deluxe).

Just received Studio to AL7 upgrade, installed it on a PC with a DV500plus (4.50a drivers) and Studio 9 Plus.
